Steve Axel is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) recognized by the International Coach Federation.  He leverages 29 years of sales, marketing, strategic planning, acquisition/integration, P&L management, and board experience across both Executive and Transition Coaching.  Industry segment knowledge encompasses Biotech, Pharma, Health Care, Health Services, Medical Devices, and Enterprise | Software Security.

Whether working with high potentials, executives that are new to their roles, or executives wanting to take their leadership to the next level, Steve establishes a trusted relationship that supports and encourages the executive’s personal change and professional growth.  He has successfully coached hundreds of executives across highly diverse industry segments.  

Steve demonstrated his leadership ability to think strategically and implement tactically at a variety of companies including American Hospital Supply, Baxter Healthcare, Caremark International, Vasco Data Security, and Aladdin.  In his last corporate role as Vice President of Global Marketing at Aladdin, the company regained profitability, expanded revenues 49%, and the share price soared 950% over a 3-year period.  

 

His business and coaching acumen were developed throughout his career with venture-backed start-ups, internationally based businesses, and publicly traded Fortune 500 companies.  As a result, he closely identifies with the specific issues and challenges that executives face in today’s hypercompetitive environment.  Having built many high-performance teams, he also realizes the importance of excellent communication, clearly setting expectations, and empowering his team to achieve corporate goals.   

 

Steve has been a guest lecturer at San Diego State University on both Career and B2B Marketing topics.  Besides running his own firm, he also works with The Leadership Edge, a Life Sciences industry leader in leadership training and development. Additionally, he provides pro bono coaching services to The Honor Foundation, an organization which provides executive education, professional development, career coaching, and transition management for the US Navy SEAL and Special Operations Forces (SOF) community.

 

Steve received his BA in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  He lives and works in La Jolla, California.
