Executive Coach: CareerTransition & Regrets

Steve Axel is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) recognized by the International Coach Federation.  He leverages 29 years of sales, marketing, strategic planning, acquisition/integration, P&L management, and board experience across Executive Coaching.

His specialty lies in Transition Coaching, where he serves not only high-level leaders navigating career pivots but also providing pro bono coaching services to The Honor Foundation, an organization which provides executive education, professional development, career coaching, and transition management for the US Navy SEAL and Special Operations Forces (SOF) community.

These are individuals who’ve mastered resilience, strategy, and execution; skills he helps translate into meaningful careers beyond the uniform.

Steve is also pioneering a powerful new coaching specialty--Regret Coaching--inspired by Daniel Pink's book "The Power of Regret."  Why regret? Because unresolved regrets are more than pain points—they’re clues. They reveal what you value most. And when you ignore a regret, you risk choosing to live in conflict with those values.  As I often say, “What you are not changing, you’re choosing.”  Through coaching, we deconstruct the regret, extract the wisdom, and create a path forward for a more positive and rewarding life.

With all his clients, Steve establishes a trusted relationship that supports their personal and professional growth.  He has successfully coached hundreds of executives across highly diverse industry segments.  He has also been a guest lecturer at San Diego State University on both Career and B2B Marketing topics.

Steve demonstrated his leadership ability to think strategically and implement tactically at a variety of companies including American Hospital Supply, Baxter Healthcare, Caremark International, Vasco Data Security, and Aladdin.

Steve received his BA in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  He lives and works in La Jolla, California.

The Best Coach

“I have been fortunate to have worked with a number of very valuable coaches over my 35 year career but Steve is simply the best coach I have ever worked with. He combines challenge with encouragement, and reflection with action in a way that makes him the best support you could hope for when looking for your next step.”
